Dry and Cracked Feet: Common Causes and Effective Remedies

Let’s discover the general causes of cracked heels and feet and how we can heal them with effective remedies.

Dry skin on feet is a common nuisance, which can cause distress in many people and can lead to more serious problems if left untreated. However, it is sufficient to follow some practical tips to heal dry skin on feet and moisturize it.

Factors which cause dry and cracked skin

There are several factors that can cause dry and cracked skin on feet.

Some people are genetically predisposed to have drier skin, and this can lead to cracked heels also. Furthermore, aging can cause dry skin, as it loses its elasticity and tone with the passing of time.

Also daily habits play an important role: if you do not drink enough water, you are used to having hot baths and showers, and your skin is sensitive to products, the wellbeing of your feet may be affected.

Did you know the clothes you wear could have an influence on skin hydration? Some fabrics, when in contact with your skin, could cause itch and increase the feeling of dryness. Therefore, it is important to choose comfortable and transpirable fabrics.

Standing for a long time during the day, with uncomfortable and narrow shoes, for instance while you are working, could be another triggering factor. While standing, you put a lot of pressure on your feet and this could lead to dry skin and cracked heels

How do you treat extremely dry cracked feet?

In order to take care of your skin, you could start with a foot soak for dry feet. Soak your feet in warm water for at least 20 minutes, add some baking soda and some drops of essential oil. You should repeat this activity multiple times a week to get good results.

Furthermore, a foot mask or pack could be helpful. You should exfoliate your skin regularly with pumice stone and apply a moisturizing cream every day.

We suggest drinking enough water for proper hydration and you should avoid using aggressive products which could irritate or dry your skin.

There are also items of clothing which could help improve hydration, elasticity, and softness of skin on feet. BeGood® items offer a beauty treatment for your whole body, with specific solutions even for the wellbeing of your feet.

Mineral salts ensure adequate cells hydration, improve their regeneration rate, and stimulate collagen and elastin production. Coenzym Q10 is applied directly onto the skin when you wear these clothes, and it helps reduce the damage from internal and external agents, increases the production of energy in skin cells, and facilitates anti-oxidant and anti-aging protection.
